On behalf of NSS week, the National Service Scheme of Shri Dnyanesh College Nawargaon, organised seventh activity, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti in the college area in accordance with the government directives and the letter received from Gondwana University Gadchiroli dated 1st October 2023. On Sunday, 1st October 2023 at exactly 9.00 am in the college premises, flowers were placed on Gandhiji’s statue and the interview of Nitin Sonwane in the Diwali issue of “But” was read out. The importance of Gandhi’s thought was told in front of the students through an interview with Nitin Sonwane, who traveled by bicycle and on foot to 46 countries of the world with Gandhiji’s thought and image. After that some representatives of the students were put there thoughs.
As per the government directive, it was planned to donate labor to Gandhiji for one hour. The students cleaned the front, right and left side of the college by removing all garbage and plastic. The paper and plastic waste from the area was picked up and burnt completely. In this way, after an hour of labor donation, the students were convinced of the significance of this day. From here the ideological journey of Mahatma Gandhi’s lovers in Sonawane’s “But” a was revealed through the interview. Gajanan Kortalwar read it out. Milind Fulzele, Program Officer of the Junior College expressed the vote of thanks. Ku Nimgade, Ku Amina, Ku Purva Zode and Rajan Lanjewar, NSS volunteers shed light on the history of Mahatma Gandhi from their perspective.

Outcomes / Outputs of Activity

1. Out of 100 volunteers of the National Service Scheme, 83 volunteers were present.
2. Students realized the importance of Mahatma Gandhi’s thought in global context.
3. Students cleaned the college premises on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
